Student Admissions and Administration

Our teams provide key services and information for students throughout the student lifecycle, including: student admissions, student finance, examinations, graduation and student immigration. We are also responsible for the Student Services Centre and the Visitors’ Centre.

Student Admissions

The Student Admissions Team is responsible for supporting colleagues in academic schools to process undergraduate, postgraduate and direct entry applications. The team provides support for prospective enquirers and applicants as well as training, information and guidance to colleagues across the University on admissions processes, policies and procedures.

Student Funding

The Student Funding Team is responsible for all aspects of administration associated with the University’s undergraduate scholarships and bursaries, and with the Student Loans Company, including tuition fee loan collection for undergraduate students, confirmation of study abroad arrangements, and the assessment and allocation of University scholarships and bursaries. The Team administers the University hardship funds and short term loans.

Tuition Fees and Registration

The Tuition Fees and Student Registration Team undertake a range of tasks and responsibilities to ensure that students are registered correctly and that their tuition fees are collected efficiently and on a timely basis.

Service Delivery Team

The Service Delivery Team is responsible for the delivery of services to students from the front counter at the Student Services Centre, the telephone Enquiry Centre, the Student Services desk in the Barnes Wallis Building, and the Welcome desk on the ground floor of University Place. The team provide administrative services to students in support of the activities of all the teams in the Student Services Centre, including recepit of tuition fee and accommodation payments, the issue of student cards, confirmation of attendance letters, transcripts and certificates.

Student Immigration

The Student Immigration Team is responsible for the delivery of processes and procedures in line with the University’s status as the visa sponsor of international students under the Tier 4 visa immigration route, monitoring of the University’s compliance with Home Office regulations, and delivering information and advice to applicants and students requiring information on UK student visa requirements.

Academic Support

The Academic Support Team has two sections: Examinations and Graduation. The Examinations team organise and manage all University formal examinations well as the formative assessments for some courses outside of the main exam periods. They are also responsible for the co-ordination of all formative e-assessment activity and its associated development. The Graduation team is responsible for the planning and event management of the twice yearly graduation ceremonies, for the issuing of transcripts, degree certificates and the final Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) in addition to managing all the verification requests the University receives.

Systems Development and Support

The Systems Development and Support Team works with all business areas within the Division on the development and implementation of IT systems and technologies to deliver key business requirements, to support and deliver process improvement to enhance the delivery of our services to students.
